Jack Hickey, Chairman of the City of Leicester Conservatives, participated in a political debate on Monday 6th March with Cllr Sarah Russell, Assistant City Mayor for Education and Children's Services, hosted by the De Montfort University Politics Society.
The debate prompted some lively discussion about local government and issues facing young people.
Mr Hickey said:
"As an alumni of DMU, I was delighted to take part in this debate, and it was inspiring to see so many students attending.
"It is vital that we engage with young people, and that they feel they can help to shape the future in their local area. We discussed a range of relevant topics, including whether the curriculum should be skills or knowledge based, how local governments can work together, and about the new enterprise zone.
"I'd like to thank the team at DMU for inviting me to participate."
