Edward Yi He is the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Leicester East.
Born in China, Edward came to the UK at the age of 18 to study Engineering at the University of Birmingham. After graduation, he started his professional career as a Steelworks Engineer job at Tata Steel plant in Aberavon, where he stood in the 2015 General Election, contesting Labour’s Stephen Kinnock. Edward also stood in the 2016 National Assembly for Wales election for the South Wales West region.
Edward relocated to Leicester in 2013 after taking a redundancy from Tata Steel. He lives in his flat in Leicester and works locally as an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (Aerospace).
Edward serves as a trustee at a cancer support charity, and has involved himself in local life in Leicester, by working in local schools as a STEM Ambassador, improving engineering standards with regional professional bodies, supporting local charities, and fighting for good causes.
Edward holds a BEng (Hons) degree and a Masters degree, both in Engineering, and an MBA, and is also a qualified Chartered Engineer (CEng).
